About Us

How did Fremantle Cruisers Start?

We commenced developing this website in late January 2010 just after we booked for our second cruise to South East Asia from Fremantle on the Sun Princess sailing in May 2010.

Having made this new booking we became very excited about our next cruise and once again looked at all our photographs taken on out last cruise in July last year. We also reviewed all the information, brochures, memorabilia and item we collected on board and re-read all the ship's daily Newspaper, "The Princess Patter."

We also recommenced surfing the Cruising Web sites, and found an awful lot of critical comment and misinformation about cruising.

Like all aspects of life most people only make voluntarily negative comment , and we felt a good balance is necessary such that new cruisers expectations are not raised too high, but also be pleasantly surprised at all the little extras that one never thinks about prior to a cruise.

I must admit that it was with some trepidation when we launched into our first cruise after an absence from cruising for 30 years having thinking of al the things that could go wrong (such as swine flu, Noro Virus.

Having just completed the development of the Needonga  Negatives website and a refresh of our family website RV Ozzie Escapes it was thought that a site for cruisers could be easily developed and provide an unbiased site for cruisers departing Fremantle based upon our experiences and feedback from other fellow cruisers.

This site is run on a voluntary basis and your support for our advertisers will assist in ongoing running costs.

Where are We:

We are located in Noranda in Western Australia and this website was created and is maintained by Philip with help from Ingrid (to add a women's touch) from a busy study in our home. The site is checked daily and is also maintained via the Telstra NextG network when we are living at our farm in Bindoon where we run a herd of Murray Grey Cattle, on on the road in our caravan.

Where we're going:

This site is currently focussed on Sun Princess cruises sailing and returning to Fremantle, however much of the information will be common to other Princess Cruise ships operating from Australia, notably the sister ship "Dawn Princess."

We hope you enjoy this website and contribute to the forums and upload your pictures and help to make this site a valuable resource for Australians (particularly West Australians) and a meeting point of cruisers for discussion before their sailing date.

We intend to add information about other cruise lines operating from Fremantle such as the "Athena,"  "Rhapsody of the Seas" etc when we have had completed cruises on these vessels.

personel bio pic Ingrid Schubert :

Ingrid has been married to Philip for 35 years and introduced Philip to Cruising by insisting on a cruise on her honeymoon. The Blue Funnel Line Ship the "Centaur" made regular passages from Fremantle to Singapore and other SE Asia Ports from Fremantle in the 1960' & 70's. It carried 200 passengers and 800 head of cattle! She has previously been chief cook and bottle washer on all the camping and caravan trips we have undertaken over the last 35 years raising a family of 3 children that have now left the nest (well almost). Ingrid loves cruises as she just can sit back and do nothing and be pampered.

She is a Clinical Nurse and continues to work part time at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital as a senior member of the Elective Surgery Patient Wait list Management Branch
