Casinos and Gamming

Casinos and Gamming are part of cruising too!

Sun Princess Casino

Casinos and Gamming on the Sun Princess

Like all other cruise ships the Sun Princess has a well equipped Casino on Deck 7 (Dolphin Deck).

Pokie Corner

Not being of the gambling type I don't profess to have any knowledge of how good these facilities are and unfortunately don't even know the names of some of the games provided except to say there were:

  • Pokies (plenty and they were busy)  I had a go at these, and they accept Aus Dollar coins and I was able to be kept entertained for significant periods with just a dollar.
  • Roulette
  • Blackjack?

and a number of other games whose names escape me.

Lessons are offered in in how to gamble, although I am not sure whether these were offered for free!

You may charge your Casino chips or Slot tokens to your shipboard account. There are limits of $1500 per day  and $15,000 per cruise. A 3% surcharge is also added. Photo ID is required to access this facility

Casinos and Gambling on a Cruise

Gambling is a very popular pastime for some passengers on cruise ships, in fact in South East Asia there are ships dedicated to gambling that don't actually visit any ports.

Almost every cruise ship has some sort of casino and other gambling facilities. Other forms of gambling for entertainment can include Bingo, Mock horse races and others.

Ships in West Australian territorial waters are prohibited by law from operating casinos while in these waters. These waters extend up to 200 miles off shore, so depending on the course of the ship the ship's casino may be closed from a minimum of 10 hours, or if heading to SE Asia either through the Lombuk or Sunda Straights for several days, and likewise when returning to Fremantle.
